1. What grades do you serve, and what are class sizes like?

River Tech serves Kindergarten through 12th grade. Class sizes vary by subject:
Music and foreign language classes are often 2–6 students.
Core subjects like Math, English, and Science average 8–12 students.
Group classes like coding or choir may have up to 15 students.
Overall, classes average 10–12 students, allowing for personalized learning and strong teacher-student relationships.

 

2. Do you accept new students mid-year?

We primarily enroll students at the start of the school year (late August) and mid-year after Christmas break (early January). However, if your family is new to the area or facing a unique situation, please reach out—we may be able to find a spot for your child even mid-year.

 

3. Is River Tech accredited?

River Tech has chosen to remain unaccredited to preserve flexibility, innovation, and personalized learning that doesn’t always align with traditional accreditation systems. We still provide official diplomas and transcripts, which are broadly accepted by colleges and universities.

 

4. What technology programs do you offer?

River Tech offers hands-on learning in:

5. What performing arts opportunities are available?

Our performing arts program includes:

🎶 Drums, bass, guitar, piano, and band

🎭 Acting, musical theater, and choir. This upcoming school year we are showcasing "Frozen" and "Sound of Music."

💃 Dance classes offered multiple times a week

🖌️ Drawing, filmmaking, and digital artsStudents participate in theater productions, concerts, and showcases throughout the year.

 

6. What are the tuition costs and payment options?

Tuition at River Tech is affordable and flexible, with payment plans available. Please visit our Tuition page or contact our office for current rates and details.

 

7. Do you accommodate students with special learning needs?

River Tech welcomes high-functioning students with special learning needs who are able to learn in a regular classroom setting. We do not have specialized programs or dedicated special education staff, and we provide the same level of instruction and support as we do for all students. Many families have found that our small class sizes and inclusive environment are a great fit for students who prefer to be treated like their peers without being separated or singled out.

 

8. What is the school schedule and calendar?

Our school year starts two weeks earlier than public schools, allowing us to build in additional breaks throughout the year.

Full-time students: 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., 4 or 5 days a week

Homeschool/one-day program: 10:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., once a week

9. What is the student dress code?

Students are expected to dress in business casual attire that is neat, modest, and reflects respect for themselves and others. Specific guidelines are outlined in our Parent Handbook, available upon request.

 

10. Do you offer sports or athletics?

River Tech offers a unique approach to athletics:

🏀 We partner with Prairie Athletics Center twice a month for basketball, volleyball, and more.

🏃‍♂️ We offer cross-country running opportunities.

💃 Optional dance classes are available several times a week.

🥋 Some quarters include martial arts classes.

We also take 10+ field trips annually, often including recreational activities like rollerskating, swimming, tennis, and more.

 

11. What qualifications do your teachers have?

River Tech’s teachers hold relevant degrees across diverse fields, bringing a rich blend of expertise to the classroom. Our team includes degrees in:

While not every teacher holds a degree in every subject they teach, we ensure students are taught by passionate, qualified educators aligned with our mission.

 

12. What technology devices will my child need?

Starting in 2nd grade, students should bring a tablet for class use. By around age 10, students should transition to a laptop.

13. Do you offer before or after-school care?

River Tech does not currently offer before- or after-school care.

 

14. How do I know if River Tech is a good fit for my child?

✅ High School: For academically driven students eager to dive into advanced, innovative arts and technology studies.

Note: River Tech High School accepts new students as Freshmen or Sophomores (age 15 and under) to ensure every graduate completes our full four-year program.We encourage families to schedule a tour, meet our teachers, and visit classrooms to see if River Tech is the right fit.
