1. Why volunteer?

  • Maintain our 1 : 10 teacher–student ratio and keep classes small

  • Enrich lessons with real‑world expertise

  • Model servant leadership and Christian values

2. Current High‑Priority Volunteer Roles

(Each class has a staff teacher; volunteers assist or co‑lead as listed.)


LANGUAGES
• Spanish Lead Teacher — Thu 11:15 AM – 2:30 PM


PERFORMING ARTS
• Stage Crew Assistant — Mon 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM and/or Mon 12:40 PM – 2:15 PM


FILM MAKING
• Mentor (ages 8‑10) — Fri 11:15 AM – 12:00 PM and/or Fri 12:45 PM – 1:30 PM
• Mentor (ages 11‑13) — Fri 1:30 PM – 2:15 PM


ROBOTICS
• Coach (ages 11‑13) — Fri 10:30 AM – 11:15 AM
• Coach (ages 8‑10) — Fri 11:15 AM – 12:00 PM
• Coach (ages 8‑10) — Fri 12:45 PM – 1:30 PM
• Coach (ages 11‑15) — Fri 1:30 PM – 2:15 PM


3. Who can apply?

Adults 18 + who meet both criteria:

A. Education / expertise (one or more)

  • College degree (any discipline)

  • Relevant industry certification

  • Military service with leadership or technical specialization

  • Proven entrepreneurial or professional experience

B. Direct work with children or youth

  • Classroom teaching or homeschool‑co‑op instruction

  • Church programs / Sunday school

  • Tutoring or mentoring

  • Camps, scouts, Civil Air Patrol, coaching, etc.

All volunteers must pass an Idaho background check—River Tech covers the fee.

 

4. Commitment & Reliability

By accepting a volunteer role, you agree to:

  1. Be present every week during your assigned slot—from the week of Aug 18 through Jun 4—except for illness, doctor’s appointments, or vacations.

  2. Notify learn@rivertech.me at least 24 hours in advance whenever possible if you must be absent.

  3. If you anticipate frequent conflicts, consider a different role or wait until a future semester when your schedule is more flexible.
     

5. The process

  1. Submit the Volunteer Application (≈10 minutes).

  2. If shortlisted, pick an interview slot on Tuesday, August  5th (6–8 AM, 10 AM–12 PM, 3–5 PM, or 7–9 PM).

  3. Complete the background‑check consent.

  4. Onboarding: Monday,  August 18th or Tuesday,  August 19th, 9:00–10:00 AM.

  5. Start serving students!
